Traffic to magazine Web sites outpaced overall Internet traffic growth during the fourth quarter of 2007, according to Magazine Publishers of America analysis of Nielsen Online data.

The top 320 magazine Web sites received an average of 67.5 million unique visitors per month during the fourth quarter of 2007, representing 8.1% growth over the same period in 2006.

Meanwhile, overall Internet traffic grew 2.4% in the fourth quarter compared to 2006. According to the data, magazine Web sites reached nearly 42% of the total US online population.

"These figures illustrate the growing prominence of magazine brands online,” said Nina Link, CEO of Magazine Publishers of America. "It’s important to note that the surge in online traffic to magazine Web sites is taking place while readership of the core print brand has grown over the last several years.” [eMarketer]
